Featuring repertoire selected by renowned Canadian choral composer Matthew Emery, including a newly commissioned work by Matthew for Oriana.
Matthew will join Oriana’s Artistic Director Mitchell Pady in concert to talk about his compositional approach and influences. In addition to several of his own compositions for upper voices, Matthew has programmed works by Eric Whitacre, Srul Irving Glick, Morten Lauridsen and his mentor in his undergraduate compositional studies, Stephen Chatman.
In preparation for this concert, Oriana choristers will have the opportunity to connect with Matthew and gain a better understanding of the inspiration and compositional process for the upper-voice music created by this brilliant Canadian composer.
Matthew Emery was Oriana’s composer-in-residence from 2015-2022.
